Storms, storms and MORE storms

I never thought I would live in a place where, it seems, there are tornadoes-type storms at least once a week. It truly is getting old! I'm sure the weather of this season can't continue much more. We went to church today and it was amazing to see the path of destruction around our church building. There was one house that just had the wall of the garage left standing! We were very fortunate and only had a few chairs blown around and a hanging basket knocked down.

I am, however, thankful for the power of prayer and being able to help my children rely on the Lord for support and security in a very scary time. This last storm, on Friday, came up so fast. The kids and I just finished watching a movie and Alyssa opened the door to go outside and we heard the tornado siren! I looked at her, and we looked outside to see a bright, sunny day. But within the time it took me to turn on the TV and get to the weather the storm was upon us. We quickly headed to the basement, trying to find shoes and cell phone (which didn't work), and by then the wind was blowing so hard and loud, that we huddled down in our cement room and began literally to pray! My sweet little daughters were crying and crying, but thankfully we were comforted and very protected. I know Heavenly Father was watching out for us.

Meanwhile, of course TJ is downtown and there is nothing going on down there. So when I finally got through on our regular phone, he had no idea what I was talking about, but within minutes he was sent to the stairwell. He of course being the adventure lover that he is, is standing near the windows with a few other lunatics watching the storm. Finally as they went to the stairwell, he said he was propping the door open for everyone and could actually feel the building swaying - FREAKY! It took him quite some time to get home, and boy were we glad to see him.

I am thankful to know Who is in charge and you bet we are trying to do what is right! Take care!

Hey! We are finally entering the world of blogs! I love yours! Angelica is still terrified of storms & has an enormous fear of tornadoes from her years in Texas & watching storm chasers! It's great to have the power of prayer isn't it!
